Babylonian fired clay plaque depicts the goddess Ishtar

A Babylonian fired clay plaque depicts the goddess Ishtar (Inanna), representing fertility, love, and war. The relief features Ishtar with wings and talons, standing with legs together, adorned with a horned headdress, necklace, and bracelets, holding rods and rings at shoulder level. Supported by addorsed lions on a scale-patterned base, flanked by standing owls. Made from heavily tempered clay, highlighted with red and black pigment, and possibly white gypsum. Dating back to 1800 B.C. in the Isin-Larsa period of Babylonia, this exquisite piece is currently displayed at the renowned British Museum in London.
